For the long term, an enhanced ARAIM evolution is proposed for the maritime domain. The ship will be equipped with a GNSS receiver compatible with ARAIM and SBAS, and with an IMU. The navigation data and observations from the GNSS satellites (GPS + Galileo constellations) will be processed by the user equipment, as along with the SBAS messages disseminated by EGNOS.
The following strengths will be exploited:
- Combination of SBAS with ARAIM (SBAS corrections and monitoring of System Level events, ARAIM mitigation of Local Effects, etc.)
- Use of IMU as a completely independent sensor (used to perform safety cross-checks with the GNSS solution).
- Allocation of the integrity budget to the horizontal dimension.
- Multi-antenna solution (to mitigate multipath).
