T0+15 Milestone Post

In May 2024, the fifth Progress Meeting of the ARAIMFUSE project took place and was declared successful by the European Commission.

In this milestone, one of the key deliverables was the ARAIM Evolution Cost and Benefit document. This document was devoted to performing a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) on each of the evolutions proposed for Rail, Maritime, and UAVs.

The structure of the CBA is presented in the next figure.

Methodological approach for CBA.

Based on previous knowledge and on a first consultation with stakeholders, the consortium built the CBA using the provided quantifications to determine the expected penetration rate of the solution to be used for the other calculations.

The CBA followed the steps below:

  1. Assessment of the GNSS addressable market in the Rail, Maritime and UAS sectors.
  2. Estimation of the expected penetration rate of the ARAIM solution based on inputs from sectorial experts, the ARAIMTOO project and the recent market data from the latest issue of the EUSPA EO & GNSS Market Reports.
  3. Assessment of the impact in terms of costs and benefits of the introduction of the ARAIM solution.

The preliminary assumption and results on the main benefits and costs considered in the CBA were then validated during a second consultation phase with relevant stakeholders.
